What is ART Bank: It is a centre designed to store and distribute donor gametes including eggs, sperms and embryos for use in procedures like IVF and surrogacy. ART Banks are important for individuals and couples with infertility problems have access to healthy qualities and efficient donor materials. The creation and running of ART Banks are strictly governed by the Law in order to prevent immoral practices in the performing of ART procedures.
Key Functions of an ART Bank:
Recruitment and Screening of Donors: ART Banks enroll normal healthy people and conduct thorough medical and psychological examination of the donors so as to provide good and safe gametes.
Cryopreservation: These are specially provided gametes that undergo is specialized preservation through freezing and storage till the needed time to be used.
Distribution to Fertility Clinics: ART Banks provide donor gametes to IVF centres and clinics with an intention to use them in different treatment practices such as IVF, ICSI and surrogacy.
